The benefits of Dried Red or Black Raspberries, is that they offer the convenience and natural health benefits of this tasty seasonal fruit year round, especially in areas where fresh raspberries are not available.
These berries are also a great choice to have on hand in the case of Emergency Preparedness since they are not only very nutritious, but, unopened, they have a very long shelf life.
Also, many hikers, campers, and backpackers like to pack these dried fruits in their food collections and "survival kits" as nutritious, and light weight, healthy foods, perfect for easy storage.
Dried Red or Black Raspberries can be substituted in many recipes that list other dried fruit in the ingredient list, for example, dried cranberries, dried gogi berries, and currants.

I find that where I live it is not possible to purchase Dried Black or Red Raspberries in local grocery stores, health food stores, or bulk food stores. I can find dried cranberries, apricots, gogi berries, and more, but not raspberries that have been dried! The only way I purchase them is through "Amazon".
Here are some examples of Dried Red / Black Raspberries you can purchase online and have delivered to you!
Most raspberries that are "dried" are actually "freeze-dried". Freeze-dried raspberries are not actually frozen. Freeze-dried raspberries are frozen, and then go through a process called "sublimation" where the water in the berries is changed from a solid state to a gas. This process allows the water to be removed from the raspberries, but the nutritional portion to be preserved.
One pound of freeze-dried raspberries is equal to approximately 6 1/2 pounds of fresh raspberries.
Freeze-dried raspberries can be stored in a cool, dry place until opened, and then it is better to store them in a freezer to maximize the antioxidant potential of the berries, and reduce any possibility of oxidation and water reabsorption.
