Easy Sour Cream and Fruit Dessert Quickest Cream Dessert with ANY Fruit
This Sour Cream and Fruit Dessert is the quickest and easiest ever fruit dessert idea! It takes less than 5 minutes to prepare, and scrumptious! MMmmmmm!
"Sour Cream" may "sound" unappetizing, but it really is a treat to the taste buds. A similar product is the French crème fraiche.
This sour cream and fruit recipe can very easily be doubled or tripled according to the number of people you are serving. A great fruit dessert idea when various fruits are being harvested locally.
I made this dessert today with fresh red raspberries, black raspberries, and blueberries. You can make it with almost ANY fresh fruit. For example, pineapple, bananas, blackberries, strawberries, peaches, and more! You can prepare this dessert with only one type of fruit, or a selection of fruits combined.
My Mom used to make this simple dessert with sour cream, and I always loved those lip-smacking moments! Now I make it for my family, and they love it too! I chose to put a large dollop of sour cream on top of the prepared fruit. If you do not want the berries to break apart, this method is preferred. The other method to serve this dessert is to gently stir the fruit through the sour cream. This method works great with pineapple and bananas. Ingredients 2 cups sour cream, (use "low fat" or "light", if desired) 5 tbsp. granulated sugar, or to taste fresh fruit (one type, or combined fruits) Directions Using a spoon, mix together the sour cream and the sugar, (adding more if desired, depending on the natural sweetness of the fruit). Allow mixture to stand for 5 - 10 minutes to ensure sugar is dissolved. Prepare the fresh fruit and arrange in individual serving bowls, or in one large bowl. Place dollops of the sour cream and sugar mixture over top of the fruit in the serving bowls, OR gently stir the fruit into the sour cream and sugar mixture. Stir only until just combined. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Serves 4. *Note - It is possible to use canned fruit for this recipe, but drain the fruit through a sieve, over a bowl, and discard the excess liquid, (or add it to a juice drink!).
