1 1/2 pounds of dark sweet or tart red cherries
4 cups red raspberries
7 cups granulated sugar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 of a 6-ounce size pkg. liquid fruit pectin


Remove the stems from the cherries.

Pit and coarsely chop the cherries, and measure out 2 cups.

Crush the raspberries, and measure out 3 cups.

In a large size kettle or a Dutch oven size pan, combine the 2 cups of chopped cherries, the 3 cups of crushed raspberries, sugar and lemon juice.

Bring the mixture to a full rolling boil (a boil that cannot be stirred down), and boil hard, uncovered for 1 minute. Be sure to stir constantly to avoid sticking and burning.

Remove from heat, and stir in the liquid fruit pectin.

Skim off the foam with a metal spoon.

Ladle at once into hot, clean jars, leaving 1/4 headspace.

Wipe jar rims, and adjust lids.

Process in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, starting the timer when the water returns to boiling).
